How to support your child's friendships if they have Crohn's or Colitis

Download (726.65 kB)

This information sheet is aimed at parents who have children with Crohn's or Colitis.

Our Being Me with IBD research study showed that telling friends about Crohn’s or Colitis (known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD) was tricky and challenging for some young people. Young people told us it took courage to tell their friends and that they struggled to know what, how and when to tell.

We used the findings of the study to produce several information sheets to complement the animation about telling friends. These can be found here: https://sites.edgehill.ac.uk/cc.

In response to the success of these information sheets we consulted with a group of parents to develop information for parents which would help them support their child's friendships.

We are grateful for the support of Crohn's and Colitis UK and the parent group.
