Race and Racism in Nursing Education, Reciprocal Scholar Visiting Program
This presentation is part of the RSVP (Reciprocal Scholar Visiting Programme) and aims to disseminate my doctoral research on racial discrimination and bullying among marginalised student nurses. It shares the research context, rooted in a triad of personal experiences with race and racialisation, insights from the 'Too Hot to Handle' report, and evidence from the Inclusivity Podcast project at the University of Salford.
The study acknowledges the existence of race and racialisation but moves beyond Critical Race Theory, drawing on concepts such as Racecraft, Decolonisation, and Marginalisation Theory to explore the lived experiences of Black and Ethnic Minoritised student nurses.
The presentation concludes with a 'So What?' section, encouraging the audience to apply these findings in their daily teaching practices and student support strategies.
