This is an extract from the performance that was a result of the artistic research of Circus Sessions 2019 for which Michelle Man was principle investigator and facilitator. For this international Canadian Arts Council funded research and development project that brought together fourteen female artists from five different countries, Man took as a starting point notions of conviviality or 'convivencia' in artistic collaborative processes. The embodied research in Circus Sessions took as its foci positive receptivity, hospitality and fascination as creative tools in collective devising processes. This extract offers something of how these notions operate within in a collective in contemporary circus making.
