This paper explores the relationship between student well-being and academic performance through integrative, student-centered assessment strategies in higher education. Drawing from curriculum redevelopment initiatives, the study highlights the effectiveness of both graded and ungraded assessments in reducing student anxiety—particularly among international learners—and in enhancing engagement and performance. By emphasising personalised, low-stakes assessment opportunities, the approach supports employability, mental health, and career readiness, ultimately aligning assessment with students' personal and academic goals.
