This paper sets out the context of gender inequalities in
STEM education and employment in India and Rwanda, and demonstrates the
important role that equality in these fields can play for scientific
development and creating more equitable societies. The paper then goes on to
describe how the Gendered Journeys project will contribute to ongoing work on
understanding why these inequalities persist and working towards finding solutions.
