Information Sheets - Telling My Friends: talking about having Crohn’s or Colitis
Figures are generally photos, graphs and static images that would be represented in traditional pdf publications.
Our Being Me with IBD research study showed that telling friends about Crohn’s or Colitis (known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD) was tricky and challenging for some young people. Young people told us it took courage to tell their friends and that they struggled to know what, how and when to tell.
We have used the findings of the study to produce two information sheets for young people. They have been designed to complement the animation about telling friends.
· One for young people with IBD which is designed to support them in telling their friends about their IBD.
· One for
a young person’s friends containing suggestions as to how they could help a
friend with IBD.
· One for people who work in schools, colleges and universities about how to give the right support to those who have Crohn’s or Colitis
· Also included is a Portuguese version in association with Doença de Crohn/Colite Portugal
These information sheets have been produced with the support and input of our advisory group of young people who were aged 16-26 years old and all had IBD.
