Enhancing the career prospects for Bioscience students
This paper aims to contribute to the importance of experiential learning opportunities in preparing students for successful careers in the bioscience field. The study focuses on various aspects of the bioscience placement experience, including the level of hands-on experience gained, the quality of mentorship received, and the relevance of the placement to students' career goals. Through the examination of feedback and survey responses, it is possible to discern patterns or trends that reveal a significant correlation between the structure of bioscience placements and the potential career prospects of students. In general, through understanding the influence of placement design on the career objectives of students, universities and employers can collaborate to establish placement experiences that are more significant and have a greater impact on students. Teaching in higher education (HE) is intricately linked to placement opportunities. Academic placements have received considerable attention for their combination of teaching modules and placement designs. Placement and career choices are impacted by this process, which can be seen in academic end-of-year surveys. This study assesses the connection between teaching, internships, and job opportunities at two distinct academic institutions in the United Kingdom.
