This game is perfect as a group activity for students who need to consolidate their understanding of the cranial nerves.

The cranial nerves are red. Students need to work as a team to correctly order these from I - XII. Students can then work collaboratively to assign each cranial nerve a minimum of one function. This is not an exhaustive list of functions but instead focuses on some of the more challenging or under-discussed functions.

This creates an excellent scaffold for tutor-student discussions around all the functions, the pathways the nerves take (including cranial foramina), clinical relevance, and any branches. In addition, students learn from incorrect pairings, and this allows a broader discussion of why they might have thought this was the correct answer and in particular on how embryology results in some of the function distributions seen.
